May the calm be widespread
May the sea glisten like the greenstone
And may the glimmer of summer dance across your pathways

Mutter, mutter #%@* #^ Crows

In all fairness I shouldn't be upset at the crows, as I did plant a smorgasbord of peas without a covering of chicken wire or such like, to protect them until they started to sprout.

The crows left me three peas, so I guess I haven't much to complain about *grin* See, I do have a sense of humor. the rest of the row has some new seed sown and has a nice piece of wire over them. I suppose you will tell me that crows can get to my peas through the covering of wire. *chuckle*

This time, the newly planted peas are being protected by a piece of chicken wire.
I'll show those darn crows who is boss in my garden.

Crows are such vandalising creatures - - they should be called VUL-CROWS (smile)
Twice a week people leave their plastic garbage bags on the roadside to be carted away. But no plastic bag stands the strain of a Vulture - Crow beak, they rip tear and plunder whatever's inside those bags, and will leave the poor municiplity guys to scrape the remains off the sidewalk, then into the garbage truck.
Lots of gardeners here will use an old CD disk, tie a string to it and then hang it from a tree or something in their garden. I think the reflection of the "fluttering in the breeze" disk does the trick, so the crows stay clear of the gardens, therefor they feast off the garbage bags.
Your garden sure looks fabulous J. and I'd hate having those vandals around if the garden belonged to me. GINCO

Yes those clever crows can be terrible. And nasty, and mean. But there is also something wonderful about such a intelligent creature.

I am only hoping that they have short memories and forget that I sprayed them with the waterhose last year. They dive bombed me every time we went outside all summer.

Pesky varmints. Grandma always put two seeds to a hole when planting. One for the crow and one for the row LOL! Frustrating isn't it.

I suggest that you make a Scare Crow that looks like a big Cat! Maybe that will scare them off!! Are your peas, "sweet peas" as in big bouquets of wonderful smells? Or are they the eating kind? Molly

I can't help loving crows -- probably my favorite bird, actually. I know they are madness in the garden but their beauty and ingenuity captivate me. I also adore the voices of fish crows, they sound humorously disgruntled. I hope your chicken wire protection works this time around!

Miss Molly, they are the eating kind of peas. Yes a scarecrow cat would probably work wonders. The rabbits who hang around outside the fence of the garden, are no help at all in the crow control department.

We do not have crows here, thank goodness. (Plenty of bugs and armadillos do all our seedling damage.) Will one of those plastic owls in view of garden scare them?

I feel the same way with the deer that visit my garden - I swear they watch me plant something and then eat it the following day!

Dang crows! Your clip art is cute. I am in total agreement about touting the virtues of chicken wire. I use mine to cover bare soil that would otherwise be riddled with cat poo!

My fingers are crossed that the little thieves will find elsewhere to dine.

To KeeWee and Grace, My mom always plants mint around her garden and in between plants, the cats stay away. That is her suggestion, it works. Molly
