I love freebie plants

What a wonderful surprise to discover these two ferns which have decided to make their home in an old stump I grow hen and chicks in. I am wondering how the spores for the ferns found their way here, as the nearest fern is around the corner, and across the driveway in another flower garden. It really doesn't matter how they got here, I am delighted they did.

That's so cool! We have the hardest time getting ferns to do well in our garden, having two show up for free, well, that's fantastic.

I agree; I'm always happy to receive a freebie plant! Looks like these little guys have found a good home.

Thanks for visiting me; I love your skywatch photos--they look like paintings!

They have the right environment there so are quite happy to grow.

The spores are so minute and can just float in the air and drop... nice ferns. ~ bangchik

Wonderful KeeWee don't ya just love when that happens? I have a BBQ I recycled and planted in - I showed it on one of my first posts. A fern is growing out of the front of it down below the handle. Strange how it got in that spot. I'm leaving it as long as I can. I had one show up next to my house and how ironic it's a shade spot that I was going to make a fern garden because it can also be damp there because of the water faucet. But it's ended up being a variety with only 3 ferns and other stuff.

My husband and I always joke about the cost of plants but hey, once they get going-there all free and how perfect! Love the ferns.

Free plants are the best, especially pretty ones like ferns. They look so nice in the stump.
