Pretty companions
The ornamental kale was looking very lonely after I pulled some straggly annuals, which the frost had killed off. I found the perfect complimentary color match in these pansies to fill in until the kale has to be pulled.
So lovely! Perfect! I planted kale in containers last year, and everything got rotten after the big and long-lasting snow. This year, I didn't plant any. And what do we have this winter? Perfect conditions for kale!
The colour combination is stunning at this time of year. Our City Council plant up all of the outdoor planters and roundabouts with colouful ornamental kale for the winter months.I must admit I have taken it for granted and not even taken one photo of them! we are also experiencing another very cold spell with snow and frost so any planting out is delayed for a few weeks.
Nice combination, Jennifer. Don't you just love these little unexpected joys? It is always satisfying to get a container ensemble looking just the way you want it. You're inspiring me.

How nice nice to treat kale as ornamental. Yeah.., I heard some even treat sweet potatoes as ornamental too... ~bangchik

They do look really pretty together! The sun shining on them makes it just perfect.
Very nice! I should get out and pick up some primroses or pansies. Would probably perk me up.
