Those little critters are so sneaky, I would not doubt that you have not won the battle. Maybe you have won this round. I am forever trying to outwit the deer, bunny, Voles, etc in our gardens. Some times I win sometimes I loose but one things for sure, they keep me on my toes....

Careful about declaring victory too early. C=It looks good to me, but critters are resourceful.
