WE LIKE RAIN, BUT THIS IS RIDICULOUS

As I stated, this is ridiculous, we have had soooo much rain this past month, and it seems it is not done yet. The weeds sure are winning, but the vegetables and some of the flowers are loving it.

They say baseball is a game of streaks.

Well, Western Washington weather is becoming a tale of streaks as well.

Consider this: If it rains at least a little every day through Saturday (which I think it will), we will set a new record for consecutive rainy days in the "dry season" (May through September) with 12. Also, if we fail to make it to 75 degrees by next Wednesday (which I also think we will), we will set the record for the longest wait for our first 75 degree day.

As I sit here at my computer, I at least have a pleasing sight of the Golden Chain tree in full bloom through the window in front of me. I have placed the decals on the glass to deter birds from crashing into the glass. Reminder to self ' go fill the bird feeders'

Last fall I was the happy recipient of some Callas, and did not think they would bloom this year. I am happy to see the first bloom.

Clematis 'Sunset' strutting her stuff.
She, and I call her she, because she is so beautiful, does not seem to care about the lack of sunshine.

I have never before had a Columbine grow so tall as the white one has, it is over four feet tall, ferns to the left, not wanting to be left behind, seem to be trying to catch up, as they also are taller than last year.

One of my favorite columbines, and it appears it is also a favorite of some critter which has chewed holes in the petals.

There are are couple of climbers planted at the foot of the bamboo tee pee, but they prefer more sun, so are very slow in making an effort to snake their way to the top.

This garden has all kinds of what I call old fashioned flowers. Foxgloves, Sweet William, a couple of old time roses, stock, columbine, violets and a few others.

The Iris around the perimeter of the vegetable garden are gorgeous, although they are a little weather beaten.

On another side of the vegetable garden grows this climbing rose which is very sad looking. The heavy rains have bruised the petals but I am sure it will recover as soon as the rain quits and we get some sunshine. Oh! please, please, let there be sunshine soon.

See, despite the inordinate amounts of rain, everything does look wonderful. Some of those plants like you said, are doing even better then usual.

Hey, we have a one day reprieve here from the rain. Guess who is out there planting the last of her peas...finally.

Your garden is doing well even with all of this rain. We have had so many days of rain that we are building an Ark and we will be floating by your way soon to pick up you two!!! Gail

I've notice that although I'm very tired of the rain, most of my garden looks better than ever. The roses and a few tomatoes are a bit beat up, but otherwise it's looking good. I will be very glad when this streak is over. The weeds are taking over and I need to stop them.

Hi Jennifer, My sentiments exactly. There was a nice reprieve but it started again tonight. I'm counting on the weather people being right about the dry weekend ahead.

The one silver lining: mild temperatures and the plants are loving it. Okay so two. :) I swear I wish I had a time lapse camera focused on some of my plants because they are growing literally inches ever day.

Beautiful photos. Your iris are so vibrant. Love 'Sunset.' Love them all.
