That's nice combination of foliage in your shady area. I really like ferns and Hosta together, but mine are a more miniature version of your strapping specimens. I'd need a longer growing season and some of your rain to get the more muscular look on them.

Everyone is saying the same thing. I think it was the mild winter with the warm rains of spring. All the plants are dancing for joy. Gorgeous photo!
