What is this

I thought perhaps it is a Hollyhock, but now I am unsure. Does anyone know what this dainty flower is?

Update: a photo of the leaves.

I should have given you a picture of the leaves in the first place Duh!
They are small, about an inch long, and the flower stem is a little over two feet tall.

  1. Darn it, I want to know too. I will check back and see what other intelligent gardeners come up with. I thought Gaura, but not sure.

  2. I can't see the leaves, but it favors my old fashioned geranium. Called Cranesbill geranium.

Very pretty. I think I've seen this in yellow... How did it come to be in your garden?

  8. It does look like verbascum. I had a surprise yellow one appear in my yard this summer. I love the pink of yours.

  9. Yes, the flower does look like Verbascum aka mullein. I love a plant hunt, so tried to see if I could ID the species for you. But Wikipedia (not my only source, honest!) lists such a ridiculous number of them that I curtailed my search. Have a looksee:
