Go find your dinner elsewhere

As I sat at my computer, I could hear the alarm call of a bird outside. I looked out the window scanning all the trees and ground searching for the predator, and soon saw a hawk perched on a limb of the old willow tree. As I looked through the branches at the bird, I could see it was eating something and soon noticed the dangling legs of a poor wee bird. Yes I know hawks have to eat too, but I would rather they go some place else to catch their dinner, and leave all my birds and critters alone.

  1. We've had many red-tailed hawks circling the greater area with lot's of alarm calls going off. Sometimes the circle of life is cruel, guess I should put up more bird houses! :)

  4. Nature can be so cruel. A beautiful bird, but a predator, indeed. I hope he'll find his dinner somewhere else from now on.

  5. I know how you feel, hawks are gorgeous, but I'm too civilized to want to watch them eat.

  6. I agree with you. I know every creature has to eat, I just don't want to see it. I even feel sorry for the worms our robins pull out of the ground.

  7. I do SO understand how you feel, Jennifer! It's the same way here...although I have never actually seen a hawk eat a bird. I've seen feathers though, left behind, so I know it happens from time to time...and I always feel sad. But alas, it is the circle of life. I'm with you though...I don't want my little bird visitors being sacrificed!
