When ground is crunchy

underfoot, there will be no gardening today.

This morning we have our second frost of the season, and it is more severe than the first. I have hung up my garden tools and now wait for spring.

  1. Oh dear! We call our ground crunchy when the sun burns the grass in the summer..

  2. Our ground is crunchy too. We had a mild November here in No. Illinois though..so we can't complain. Hope your trip was wonderful.

  3. We've got some really unseasonably warm weather today - it was in the high 60s. It's such a tease because we should have a lot of crunchy ground now too. Well I best enjoy it while it's still here.

  4. Jennifer,
Don't give up just yet! The ground might warm up again before the real stuff gets here. We are expecting 28 degrees this weekend.

Very borderline here, Jennifer. A few spots of white on the roof. But down in the valley it was crunchy. I guess there's no denying winter's approach, darn it.

  7. Jennifer, the ground was hard this morning when I went out to take some photos, and it is unseasonably cold this time of year south of you. Extended cold is expected, 20 to 30 lows into next week. Where is the rain? ;)
